Breck Epic Stage 5 - Gaining a little more tenacity

The mountain views here in Summit County, Colorado really are breathtaking. Today, I got to experience some of the best views that these mountains have to offer. It was a long day, it was a difficult ride, and I gained a lot more tenacity.
Around 3 a.m. I woke up with an upset stomach. The symptoms continued, and worsened all morning. I decided to try and eat breakfast and start the race anyway. In all honesty, I would claim that I started today's stage depleted.
Within the first mile, I knew it would be a long day. My legs didn't feel too bad, but my entire body just felt reduced. As my fellow racers passed me, I appreciated the "good job" remarks from all of them. There are some amazing folks participating in this race; it's been a blessing to me.
Towards the top of Wheeler Pass, the majority of racers pushed their bikes while admiring the views. I, of course, pushed my bike up the pass. The kindness of my fellow racers kept me going, but I still had a difficult time. I struggled so much that I would sometimes start falling backwards down the hill, but someone would always be there, encouraging me on.
I finished this amazing stage of the Breck Epic. Despite not feeling my best, it was worth the effort. Not many people get to experience the allure of the mountains in this way. Tomorrow is the last day, and I will be there at the start line. I hope to enjoy the moment, and give this last day my best. Here's to gaining more tenacity and continuing to suffer with joy!
